Let me guess: You know you’re meant for more, but the idea of actually dreaming bigger terrifies you.
I get it. Dreaming big feels risky. Vulnerable. Like setting yourself up for disappointment.
But here’s what I know after years of coaching high-achieving women: The scariest thing isn’t dreaming big and falling short. It’s getting to the end of your life, and you realize you never even tried.
None of us is getting out of here alive. So what if you gave yourself permission to dream beyond your current reality? What if you let yourself want what you actually want, not what’s “realistic” or “practical” or what everyone else thinks you should want?
Where could those thoughts take you?
Here are three steps to help you start building the dream life that’s waiting for you.
1. Honor Your Discontent (Yes, Really)
That restless feeling? That nagging sense that something’s missing even though you’ve checked all the boxes?
That’s not a problem to fix. It’s a message.
Your discontent is your soul’s way of telling you that something bigger is trying to emerge. It’s not complaining—it’s calling.
So stop trying to suppress it. Stop feeling guilty about it. Instead, give yourself permission to explore what your deep desires actually are.
Here’s what to do:
Let the dream start living in your mind and heart as a real possibility—not just a fantasy you indulge in before falling asleep.
As you think about this dream, pay attention to your body. Notice your emotions.
Does the feeling of desire heighten? Do you feel more alive? Does your energy expand?
That expanded sense of aliveness is your compass. It’s telling you you’re on the right path.
If thinking about your dream makes you feel heavy or drained, that’s also important information. It might mean you’re chasing someone else’s dream, not yours.
2. Use “Up Until Now…” to Rewrite Your Story
Your past does not dictate your future. Period.
But I know what happens. You start dreaming, and then the old mental chatter kicks in:
“I’ve tried this before and it didn’t work.”
“People like me don’t get to have that.”
“I’m not [smart/talented/connected/lucky] enough.”
“Remember what happened last time?”
Here’s the truth: All those negative experiences and disappointments? They were real. I’m not going to gaslight you and pretend they didn’t happen.
But they belong to the past. And the past only determines your future if you let it.
Try this powerful reframe:
Every time one of those limiting beliefs shows up, add these three words to the beginning: “Up until now…”
“Up until now, I’ve tried this and it didn’t work.”
“Up until now, people like me haven’t had access to that.”
“Up until now, I haven’t believed I was capable enough.”
You see what happens? You’re acknowledging the past without letting it imprison you.
“Up until now” creates a boundary between what was and what can be. It says: That was then. This is now. And now is a new moment with new possibilities.
Your history does not determine your destiny. All your disappointments and regrets belong to a time that’s ending at this moment.
In the next moment? Let yourself want what you want. That’s not naïve—that’s courage.
3. Stop Trying to Do It Alone
Here’s where many people get stuck: they believe they need all the answers before starting.
But if you know exactly how you’re going to achieve your dream, it’s not a big enough dream.
Real dreams require support. Resources you don’t have yet. Skills you haven’t learned. Opportunities that haven’t shown up. People who haven’t entered your life.
Call it God, Spirit, the Universe, Source, your Higher Power—whatever resonates with you. The label doesn’t matter.
What matters is recognizing that you’re not meant to build your dream life solo. You’re meant to co-create it.
Co-creation means you partner with something greater than yourself to build the greatest life you can live. When you recognize yourself as a co-creator, you ask for guidance. You stay open. You break through the self-imposed barriers that have been standing between you and your desires.
Here’s your practice:
Each morning, before you get caught up in your to-do list, take two minutes to:
- Express gratitude for what you already have
- Bring to mind one desire that you’ve previously believed was out of reach
- For just that day, act as if what you wanted was possible
Then pay attention to what shows up. The conversation you have. The email you receive. The idea that pops into your head.
You don’t have to figure out the whole path. You just have to take the next right step—and stay open to the guidance, support, and synchronicities that appear.
Your Dream Life Is Waiting
Building the life you absolutely love isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about:
✓ Honoring the discontent that’s nudging you toward more
✓ Refusing to let your past dictate your future
✓ Recognizing you don’t have to do this alone
So here’s my question for you: What would you let yourself dream about if you knew you had support? If you knew your past didn’t have to repeat itself? If you knew that restless feeling was actually pointing you toward something beautiful?
Start there.
Because sis, this is your one life. Make it count.
