5 Questions to Know If Your Dream is Right for You (And Worth Your Energy)

5 Questions to Know If Your Dream is Right for You (And Worth Your Energy)

The Right Dream Changes Everything

Listen, having a goal is important. But having the right goal? That changes everything.

Too many high-achieving women chase dreams that look good on paper but feel hollow in their hearts. You check all the boxes, climb the ladder, and still feel that quiet ache of unfulfillment.

Why? Because the dream isn’t aligned with your core values or your true purpose.

Before you invest your time, energy, and life force into any goal, take a pause. Ask yourself if this dream is really yours-or if you’re carrying someone else’s version of success.

Finding Your Purpose Starts with the Right Questions

Here are five questions to help you discover whether your dream is worth pursuing. Answer honestly, and you’ll know if you’re on the right path or chasing something that will leave you feeling empty.

1. Does Your Dream Light You Up?

Real talk: When you think about your goal, do you feel alive? Excited? Do you feel a spark that makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning?

If your dream fills you with energy and enthusiasm, that’s your inner compass saying yes, this is it. Your dream should expand your sense of aliveness, not drain it.

If thinking about your goal feels like a heavy “should” instead of an energizing “yes,” that’s your first red flag. We’d all be happier if we stopped “shoulding” on ourselves.

2. Does This Align with Your Core Values?

This is my favorite question.

Your dream must align with your core values, or it will never feel fulfilling-even if you reach it.

If your dream pulls you away from what matters most, it’s not worthy of your energy. Ask yourself: Does this goal honor who I am at my core? Or am I trying to become someone I’m not just to please others or fit in?

3. Will This Dream Help You Grow?

Personal growth isn’t a nice-to-have, it’s essential for living a life you love.

If your dream doesn’t stretch you, it’s too small. Your goals should invite you to develop new skills, face fears, and step outside your comfort zone. That’s where transformation happens.

4. Is It Bigger Than What You Can Do Alone?

Here’s a clue your dream is big enough: you won’t know every step to get there.

If you can map out the entire journey, you’re probably playing it safe. Real dreams invite support, collaboration, and faith. They require you to become someone new-someone capable of receiving what you’re asking for.

You’ll need mentors, community, and opportunities that haven’t yet appeared. And that’s the beauty of it.

5. Does Your Dream Serve Others?

The most fulfilling dreams don’t just serve you. They create ripples of good for others.

When your goal aligns with your authentic purpose, it naturally benefits your community, your family, or the world. This isn’t about self-sacrifice or people-pleasing. It’s about recognizing that we’re all connected.

A dream that uplifts both you and others has staying power. That’s where real meaning lives.

From Wish to Reality

Your mind probably holds dozens of wishes and “someday” dreams. That’s normal.

But your work is to choose the one that’s closest to your heart-the dream that aligns with your values, ignites your passion, and calls you to grow.

Then take one step toward it. And then another.

That’s how you turn a dream into reality.

Because sis, you’re not here to live a safe, small life. You’re here to live fully, boldly, and in alignment with who you truly are.
